Asbestos Disposal
Point Pilot Program

WestVic Waste is working with Sustainability Victoria to establish a potential pilot program to support the safe disposal of asbestos at our Hammond Place transfer station. The pilot will trial providing a safe, local disposal option for small quantities of correctly packaged, non-friable (bonded) asbestos waste. Asbestos waste will temporarily be stored on site, in a fit for purpose bin, before being transported to a licensed landfill for final disposal.

We are working through several stages to ensure all the necessary regulatory requirements
are met before the transfer station can start accepting asbestos from customers. This
includes working through planning and environmental approval processes with the relevant
authorities, and ensuring we have the supporting infrastructure and systems in place to
manage asbestos safely.

For more information about the proposed pilot program download an information sheet here, check out the FAQs or contact us with any questions at admin@westvicwaste.com or 55613133.

The need for an Asbestos Disposal Point

Currently, people in the Warrnambool area who want to dispose of asbestos drive to EPA
permitted landfills or transfer stations over an hour away.
Leaving asbestos waste on your property or dumping it in kerbside bins, or public places,
puts you and your community at risk. Dumping of asbestos is illegal and can result in
significant penalties.

Trades, asbestos removalists and householders/DIYers will be able to use the site if they
make a booking and strictly follow packaging, transport and onsite disposal requirements.
Disposal fees will apply.
